چکیده

The objective of this study is to conduct a finite-element (FE) numerical assess the effect size on shear resistance reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened in with externally bonded carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (EB-CFRP). Although few experimental studies have been done, there still lack FE that consider effect. Experimental tests are time-consuming and costly cannot capture all complex interacting parameters. In recent years, advanced models constitutive laws developed predict response laboratory tests, particularly for issues related RC beams, namely, brittle failure modes interface layer between EB-CFRP (debonding delamination). Numerical progressed years can now interfacial stress along bond strain profile fibres normalized main diagonal cracks. This paper presents results nonlinear nine using composites were tested under three series, each containing sizes geometrically similar (small, medium, large). reveal good accuracy. They also confirm strength contribution CFRP decrease as increases.

Debonding Failures of Rc Beams Strengthened with Externally Bonded Frp Reinforcement: Behaviour and Modelling

Both the flexural and shear strengths of reinforced concrete (RC) beams can be substantially enhanced using externally bonded fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. Failures of such FRP-strengthened RC beams often occur by debonding of the FRP plate from the RC beam in a number of forms. Despite numerous theoretical and experimental studies on debonding failures of FRP-strengthened RC beams...

Fatigue-loading effect on RC beams strengthened with externally bonded FRP

Externally bonded carbon-epoxy fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRPs) have been widely used to restore or increase the capacities of reinforced concrete beams (Meier et al., 1992; Neale and Labossière, 1997; Varastehpour and Hamelin, 1997). A typical reinforced concrete bridge deck may experience up to 7x10 stress cycles during the course of a 120year life span (Barnes and Mays, 1999), while an over...

Effect of Shear Resistance on Flexural Debonding Load-Carrying Capacity of RC Beams Strengthened with Externally Bonded FRP Composites

Debonding failure is the main failure mode in flexurally strengthened reinforced concrete beams by externally bonded or near surface mounted fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. It is believed that FRP debonding will be initiated if the shear stress on the concrete-FRP interface reaches the tensile strength of concrete. However, it was found through experimental and analytical studies tha...

Shear Performance of Rc Members Strengthened with Externally Bonded Frp Wraps

This study presents the shear performance and the modes of failure of reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with externally bonded carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) wraps. The experimental program consisted of testing twenty-seven, full-scale, RC beams. The variables investigated in this research study included steel stirrups (i.e., beams with and without steel stirrups), shear span-...

Numerical Simulation of Debonding Failure of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened with Externally Bonded Frp

As the life age of the existing structures are required to meet the changing demands on civil infrastructures. So strengthening and retrofitting are required. Recently many techniques to strengthen the reinforced concrete beams in flexural by using fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) had appeared. The most famous technique among them is strengthening the (RC) beams with externally bonded FRP sheet t...
